Strength in small steps: stabilisation group

A four-week group for women who want a breathing space, somewhere safe to reconnect with their feelings. It can be a foundation for counselling to build on.

Over the four sessions you’ll look at how trauma affects the body and the brain, practise breathing and grounding techniques, and build a stronger sense of control in everyday life. The focus is on the here and now. You won’t be asked to talk through your history or what happened to you.

Starting Tuesday 17 November 2026 and running for four consecutive weeks. To register your interest, call the helpline or email help@manchesterrapecrisis.co.uk.

Friends and Loved Ones group

A group for the partners, family members and friends of survivors.

When someone you love has been abused it can leave you feeling helpless or overwhelmed, and unsure what to do when they are struggling. The group looks at how trauma works, how to look after yourself, and how to support the person you care about. It is run by trauma-informed counsellors, and it is a place to share what helps with people in the same position.

The next group starts Tuesday 26 January 2027. To register your interest, call the helpline or email help@manchesterrapecrisis.co.uk.
